Instantsite builds your first website from a description of your business rather than from a blank canvas. You write a few sentences about what you do; the generator plans the pages, writes the copy and applies a visual direction, and hands the result to an editor you control. This guide walks through that path end to end, and is honest about what the product does and does not do yet.
Step 1: Sign Up for Instantsite
Create an account from the Instantsite homepage. New accounts start on the Free plan with no card on file, which covers one website and thirty days of dashboard access to try things properly. If you decide to stay, Pro and Premium raise the website allowance and unlock extras such as custom domains and the full font library. Traffic analytics is a Premium feature. Nothing is charged automatically when the free window ends, and nothing you built is deleted.
Step 2: Describe Your Business
This is the only thing the generator asks you for. In one textarea, write what your business does, who it serves, where it works and how you want to be contacted. A short paragraph is enough, and you can write it in your own language. What you leave out stays out: no phone number in your description means no call button on the site. From that text Instantsite works out what the business is, plans the pages and sections around it, writes the copy, and applies a visual direction that fits. Nothing asks you to shop for a design first; the look follows from what you wrote.
Step 3: Customize Your Website
The editor opens on the generated site and works in sections rather than a free-form canvas. Click text on the live preview to rewrite it, or use the labelled fields in the sidebar. Sections can be added from a catalogue, removed, duplicated, hidden and moved with Move up and Move down. Image upload works on every plan, as do the colour presets and a core set of fonts; custom colours and the full font library need a paid plan. You can preview at desktop, tablet and mobile, undo and redo the last fifty steps, and nothing is stored until you press Save.
Step 4: Connect Your Own Domain
Every plan publishes to a free address of the form yourname.instantsite.app with HTTPS handled for you. On a paid plan you can also use a domain of your own: either connect one you already own by adding the DNS records the dashboard shows you, or buy one through Instantsite as a separate one-time charge with its own renewal date. Neither route is instant: DNS changes you make yourself can take several hours to propagate, and a domain serves your site only once it is verified, assigned to a website, and that website is published.
Step 5: Publish Your Website
Publishing takes a snapshot of your saved draft, so the live site never changes underneath you while you are still editing. Before it goes out, Instantsite checks the site for problems that would waste a visitor: a button pointing nowhere, two pages sharing a URL, a contact form whose delivery address is not a valid email. Errors stop the publish and tell you what to fix; softer warnings are shown but do not block. Afterwards you can unpublish and republish whenever you like, on any plan.
Tips
- Put the specifics in your description: services, service area, phone, email. The generator uses what you give it and invents nothing.
- Publish an honest first version early, then improve it. Republishing costs nothing and the draft is always separate from the live site.
- Decide early what to do with the reviews and certifications sections: they arrive as reserved space with an invitation to add real material, never as invented praise.
FAQs
Do I need coding skills to build a website on Instantsite?
No. Everything is edited through the visual editor: text in place, images through a picker, sections through a sidebar. There is nowhere you are expected to write code.
Can I edit my website after publishing?
Yes. Editing changes your draft, not the live site. When you are happy, press Publish again and the new version replaces the old one.
What if I don't have a custom domain?
Publish on your free instantsite.app address. It works over HTTPS, and you can add a domain later on a paid plan without rebuilding anything.

What your first version actually contains
A generated site is a complete first draft, not a demo: five pages, a navigation menu, sections chosen for your kind of business, and one primary call to action wired to how you want to be contacted. Sections that depend on material only you have (reviews, certifications, team, before-and-after) arrive as labelled placeholders rather than invented content, and are yours to keep or remove.
