Let's get it working.

Troubleshooting for generation, editing, publishing, domains, and how your website renders, with a direct route to the support team when the steps don't solve it.

Generation problems

The website doesn't generate, or the wait feels wrong.

Generation runs while you wait, and the create screen advances a stage each time the underlying work finishes rather than on a timer. If it fails or seems stuck:

  1. Stay on the page while your website is generating.
  2. If an error appears, try again from the create page. A retry of a request that already completed returns your existing website; it does not create a duplicate.
  3. Check your Dashboard: the website may have been created even if the final redirect failed.

Editor problems

The visual editor misbehaves or won't load.

Good to know

  • Your edits are a draft until you save, and Undo/Redo can take you back within an editing session. See saving, undo, and redo.
  • Image uploads accept JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and AVIF files up to 8 MB.

If the editor won't load or respond

  1. Reload the page; unsaved edits from the session may be lost, so save early.
  2. Disable browser extensions that modify pages, especially blockers.
  3. Try a different browser or device to isolate the problem.

Saving and publishing

Work won't save, or the live site looks out of date.

Publishing puts a snapshot of your saved draft online. Two consequences worth knowing:

  • Publishing requires a successful save first; if saving fails, fix that before publishing.
  • Edits made after publishing are not visible to visitors until you publish again.

If the live site doesn't show your changes

  1. Confirm the website was published again after your latest save.
  2. Hard-refresh the live page or open it in a private window; browsers cache older versions. More in publishing and domain problems.

Domains and website addresses

Connecting a domain, or an address that won't resolve.

Every published website gets an instantsite.app address. On paid plans you can connect a domain you own or buy one from the Dashboard's Domains section.

If a custom domain isn't connecting

  1. Add the verification DNS record exactly as shown in the Dashboard, at your DNS provider.
  2. Wait for the checks to pass: ownership, certificate, and routing are verified separately, and DNS changes can take from minutes up to about 48 hours to propagate.
  3. Re-run verification from the Dashboard after the record has had time to propagate. The full walkthrough is in the custom domain tutorial.

Browser and rendering problems

Pages look broken, misaligned, or behave oddly.

  1. Update your browser; Instantsite works best in a current version.
  2. Hard-refresh, or clear the cache for the affected page.
  3. Disable extensions that inject styles or block scripts.
  4. Check the page on another device or browser; if it looks right there, the problem is local. More steps in generation and editing problems.
