Billing and subscriptions

Switch plans, change between monthly and yearly, update your card and cancel, all from your dashboard.

Billing lives in the Billing section of your dashboard. Payments are handled by Stripe; Instantsite never sees or stores your card details.

Monthly or yearly

Monthly bills once a month and you can stop at the end of any month. Yearly takes one payment for twelve months up front and costs less: $152.91 a year for Pro against $203.88 paid monthly, and $335.90 for Premium against $479.88.

Upgrading

An upgrade takes effect immediately. You are charged the difference today, and the unused time on your current plan is credited automatically by Stripe. The new plan's features are available at once.

Switching between monthly and yearly works the same way and starts a new billing period.

Moving to a smaller plan

Nothing changes today. You keep the plan you paid for until the end of the current billing period, and nothing is charged. At that point the smaller plan takes over:

  • Features the smaller plan does not include stop working.
  • Websites beyond its allowance become read-only rather than being deleted.
  • A website served on a custom domain needs a paid plan to stay reachable at that address.

Cancelling

Cancel from Billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the account returns to Free. There is no cancellation fee and no notice period.

Invoices and cards

Invoices and card management are in the same Billing section. Update the card there when it expires; a failed payment is reported in the dashboard so it can be fixed before the plan lapses.

Tax

Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude tax. Stripe calculates any VAT or sales tax that applies where you are during checkout, and shows the total before you confirm. A business tax ID can be added on the same screen.

Domains are billed separately

A domain bought through Instantsite is its own charge with its own renewal date, separate from your subscription. Your plan does not include the cost of a domain name.

Before you change plan

  • You know how many websites the new plan allows.
  • Any website on a custom domain will still be on a paid plan afterwards.
  • You have looked at whether yearly billing is worth it for the plan you want.
