Every account can claim a name under instantsite.app and publish to it: yourbusiness.instantsite.app. It costs nothing, it is available on every plan, and it works the moment you publish.
Choosing a name
Open Domains in your dashboard, choose to use an Instantsite subdomain, and type the name you want. Availability is checked as you type; names are unique across all of Instantsite, so a name someone else already has is not available to you.
- Use your business name if it is free.
- Keep it short and easy to say aloud; people will read it off a van or a business card.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers where you can.
How an address attaches to a website
An account holds two kinds of claim on a name, and the difference matters:
- A reserved name
- A name your account has claimed but no website is using yet. It is yours to assign whenever you want.
- An assigned name
- A name attached to a specific website. Disconnecting it returns the name to your account rather than releasing it to everyone else.
So an account can hold one unassigned name plus one name per website. You never lose a name by moving a website off it.

HTTPS
Addresses under instantsite.app are served over HTTPS with certificates we manage. There is nothing to buy, install or renew.
Moving to your own domain later
Nothing is lost by starting on an Instantsite address. When you are ready, connect a domain you own and publish to that instead (see connecting a custom domain). The Instantsite address stays yours.
