Create your first website

Sign up, describe your business, and get a complete generated website open in the editor.

Creating a website takes one description and one click. This page covers what happens at each point and what to do if something goes wrong.

Create an account

Sign up at the sign-up page. You can use an email address and password or a connected provider. A new account starts on the Free plan with no card on file.

The Free plan opens with a 30-day window. During it you have everything the Free plan includes. When the window ends, managing your websites and domains from the dashboard is locked until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted, and it all comes back when you upgrade.

Describe your business

Open the create screen and write a description in the box. Write it in whatever language you want your website to be in. Instantsite detects the language of your description and generates the website in it.

A good description says what you do, where you do it, what you offer and what you want a visitor to do. The more specific it is, the less rewriting you do afterwards.

What happens while it generates

The create screen reports three stages and an elapsed timer:

  1. Understanding your business
  2. Creating your pages and content
  3. Preparing your website

Stay on the page. The website is being planned, written and validated in one request, and the editor opens once the finished website comes back.

If generation fails

A failed run does not use up a website slot. The create screen reports the failure and you can try again. Two things usually help:

  • Make the description more concrete. Very short or very abstract descriptions leave the planner without enough to work from.
  • Describe one business. A description covering several unrelated businesses is hard to turn into one coherent website.

If it keeps failing, contact support with the description you used.

First steps after generation

The editor opens on your new website. Before you change anything, read through the pages: the generated content is a first draft written from your description, and the fastest route to a good website is correcting the facts before restyling anything.

Worth checking first

  • Business name, phone number and email address.
  • Service names and descriptions: the generator works from what you wrote, so anything you did not mention will be generic.
  • The area you serve, if that matters to your customers.
  • Where the contact form is delivered.

Then read the editor overview to learn how the sidebar is organised.
